Kenya National Examinations Council works in conjunction with many foreign examinations boards. It is legally mandated to work with and assist foreign boards to administer their examinations in Kenya through the Act Cap. 225A.
KNEC is the only national professional examinations body in Kenya. It has cut itself a niche in the world of examinations by setting examination standards which are recognized and accepted nationally and internationally. Apart from offering the school examinations namely the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), KNEC also offers professional examinations such as those in the Business and Technical areas, Primary Teacher Education (PTE) examinations and English proficiency examinations for Lawyers.
In addition to this, KNEC administers examinations on behalf of several foreign examination boards, promoting and enhancing quality and credibility as far as the qualifications of these foreign examinations that are conducted locally are concerned.

OUR SERVICESThe following are general services offered by KNEC to foreign examinations boards that wish to offer examinations in Kenya:
- Registration of candidates for foreign schools examinations and for any other board with special arrangements.
- Receipt, safe storage and distribution of all examinations materials including Question papers from the foreign boards.
- Conducting the examinations in accordance with the requirements and regulations of the foreign boards as well as standards required by the Ministry of Education.
- Dispatch scripts to the examining boards by courier upon completion of the examinations.
- Make venue arrangements for the examinations in the case of post- school/professional examinations on behalf of the board. It is ensured that these meet the specific boards’ specifications.
- Appoint qualified Supervisors and Invigilators for the examinations.
- Monitor the administration of the examinations to ensure that the board’s regulations and requirements are adhered to.
- Handle candidates’ queries for some boards with specific arrangements.
